3G Service In Kathu?

Featured Replies

I am planning to upgrade to an iphone 4 soon. Do any of the carriers (True, AIS, or DTAC) offer 3G service in Kathu yet? I live near the Phuket Country Club. True tells me that they have trial service in Patong Beach and the airport but I am wondering about the other carriers since they all offer iphone 4 now and it would be best to link with a carrier that has 3G in my area. Any news would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

True is your only hope as AIS trials are not here on Phuket apparently they are working in Chiang Mai (AIS trial).. However true seems to be west coast so Patong Kamala Surin etc and not yet inland.. I dont have a true 3G account tho as they illegally refuse number portability despite court orders. Have had this tel number for 10 years and cant let it go so am stuck with AIS.

You will probably be living with 2G in Kathu.

Thanks very much for your feedback!! It does seem that 3G in Kathu is probably 9-12 months away!!

Well given the fiasco of the latest auctions (I assume you followed the news) IF we ever get 3G is more of a question.. Certainly there wont even be a spectrum auction until after the new year.

Yes, I have been painfully following the latest developments. I see that TOT has just been authorized to setup the nationwide 3G network. Back to the future we go!!
