Casino (Poipet) Bus From Lumpini Park

Featured Replies

and still go daily around 430 am???

thanks

Definately still running as the casinos need them to deliver hordes of Thai punters willing to part with their cash and I have seen the bus convoys returning to BKK in recent weeks.

I don't know the departure times from Lumpini as I have only caught them in years past to return to BKK but I do recollect a thai friend catching one at about 5am. They also depart from various areas of BKK (Rangsit, bangkapi, latphrao etc). There are a few bus companies which do the runs and at staggered times (tends to be every hour in the morn for a few hrs and 4pm to 8pm from the border).

I almost bet some local people in your neighbourhood would know the exact times - ask at an obvious place where gamblers may shop/frequent - if they cannot provide the number of the bus company for you but you would also be able to google the info in thai.

It used to be 100 baht for all. However, in the last 2 years foreigners from Poipet are either charged 200 or 300 baht as travellers started to realise the 'casino buses' afternoon/evening departures to BKK were preferable to catching the slower Aran (or from the border market) to BKK public buses. You may only be charged 100 to the border though especially if you can name the casino your attending.

(If you are gambling, casinos usually give a voucher for the bus plus free lunch etc if you exchange a certain amount for chips - I don't gamble but I've seen the promos in past years)
