Torrent Speed Updates

Featured Replies

When the great throttling debacle started my torrents were cut to an abysmal 3-10 kB/s with an occasional burst up to an almighty 20 kB/s. I'm about 10km outside Khon Kaen city on a TOT 4 meg package.

Since then I didn't bother downloading any torrents until earlier this week. Now my speeds are up to 300kB/s plus no matter the time of day and even with a low number of seeds. Quickest they've ever been.

Fingers crossed!

Are your speeds any better?

Same in Pattaya, TOT Banglamung over 300kB/s for hours, maximum was about 330kB/s

I'm in the process of downloading a torrent from theBox.bz and its's coming down at 700kB/s on 3bb Premier in Phuket.

On TOT 8/1mbps in Phuket Town - some days are good, some bad. Recently it's been as good as it ever has been:

Last night I downloaded about 10 GB, so can't complain. Even had to throttle the down speed myself so I could keep browsing OK. :)

This makes it very difficult to decide whether or not to change ISPs. I've been saying that I will for a long time, and then TOT works fine and I think "better the devil you know...".

To be honest I've had minimal problems with TOT. I suppose I have to reboot the router maybe once a week or less which is no great shakes. Plus at the moment I'm downloading a torrent with 15 seeds at 315 kB/s which to be honest with my location and package I'm pretty happy with.

The software they use to do all this..Sandvine isn't cheap. I doubt that they just set aside throttling. Most likely they were testing a trial period to see the response and are probably planning to roll it out permanently once they figure out what exactly to do.

Then again who knows. They could have been flooded with complaints by Thai consumers as well. With a serious enough outrage in regards to this they might have buckled but that's just being really optimistic.
