Many posting have been made on the subject of falling tourist numbers and failing businesses. I lurk in Pattaya from force of habit. In my own superficial observations the retiree visitors are down drastically maybe 90% less than say 2 years ago. One well known cheap charlie waterhole previously full with 30 - 40 customers now has virtually none. The bar hasn't done anything wrong. Several othe joints suffer the same demise. OK we know that

Then why is Walking Street jam packed with tourists from central asia

We know why the Russians are here - they are very low budget family package tourists escaping their horrible climate for sea sun and sand - just like we horrible brits invaded costa brave in the 60s - can't blame them for that even if they are just as crude as we were back then.

We can understand the hoards of Iranians escaping their horrible regime for some light entertainment - mostly found to be quite civilised and speaking good english - fair play.

Then there are the rubbernecking hoards from pakistan - all good muslims of course. What are they doing here gawping for free, a dozen crowding around a street walker haggling for a group discount?

If they were here for the girls and P4P then I could understand that. After all pattaya will sell anyone almost anything for money. But no, they have no money and dont spend, so what is their point in being here just to get a free look and maybe a grope

Can anyone explain that? I mean there are hundreds maybe thousands walking up and down beach road and WS always in groups together. Are they market traders on buying trips?

Very true. Whilst I have not been in Pattaya recently to witness it this would be typical Pakistani behavior. I would also guess the reason why they are huddling around the street walkers in groups is not to get a discount, its more likely they are actually huddling around the only one of their group who can speak English.
