Any input regarding car insurance will be appreciated for an upcoming new car purchase. First class as I think it is called in Thailand, i.e. full coverage. Please PM me with any negatives per, I think, TV rules. TV's insurance brokers quoted me a preliminary cost of 22K and the Ford dealer quoted 18-20 but you know car dealers.:ermm:

Scorpio, my Isuzu MU7 has first class insurance through one of Isuzu's brokers. 20,000 baht, full cover, any driver. I can't believe the amount a people who don't get 'any driver' cover. They have rocks in their head if they don't.

I'm sure that was in no way meant as a disparaging remark toward those with rocks in their heads. Surely people are entitled to fill their heads with whatever they wish. ;)(After all this is the new and improved Chiang Rai Forum.) :)

Of course not, everyone is entitled to fill that void between their ears anyway they see fit. Equal opportunities and all that. It's a free country right....wait a sec....what did I just say...!?

I have to admit, I had a few people say I had rocks in my head or rather hinted at me when I proposed buying a 5 year old Ducati. Most soon turned into Ducati Acolytes upon witnessing the glory that is the 999S. :P

Okay, enough of the thread-jacking...back to you Scorpio  :jap:

Surprised it didn't come with the first years insurance free, most new car purchases do. I've used Viriyah for the last 3 years, seem as good as any with comprehensive cover and quite a few options, their 2nd class+ is almost the same as 1st class insurance. Their CR office is on the super highway heading north, go through the traffic lights where you'd turn for the Rimkok hotel and it's on your left side as you're approaching the next set of lights.

I will probably get "any driver" but tell everybody it only covers us, as a "borrowers" protection. In other words, don't even think about it.B) .

Thanks. Technically you could head for Rimkok at 3 different lights. Do you mean the Issuzu dealer light , bus station St. light or K. mengrai statue light?

Thanks again

Yes, that was exactly my point, to cover borrowers

Er, none of the above. It's on the super-highway just before the traffic lights that are before the road the new international school is on.

I'm insured with Chartis( previously) AIA and find that they are excellent.

20,000 baht odd to start with a few years ago but with no claims it's down to about 12,000 baht .

They're on Prasopsuk road, not far from the Highway.

We had insurance by Viriyah included when we got our Mazda.

The wife said they have a very good reputation.

Like most Insurance companies however, it's hard to tell

how good they are until you need them.
