Several injured after inter-village clashes in Java and Bali

JAKARTA, INDONESIA (BNO NEWS) -- Inter-village brawls broke out on Tuesday in the western region of Java and in Bali, Indonesia, injuring several people, local media reported.

What began as a minor scuffle between local children in Cirebon, Java at around 3 p.m. local time, resulted in a violent brawl between the Sirnabaya Village and Suranenggala Village. Residents began throwing stones, using machetes, arrows, and burning houses with Molotov cocktails.

At least 5 people were taken to local hospitals after being struck with arrows in the eyes, stomach, or chest. Among them, was a local resident who was struck by an arrow as he was unaware of the fighting while on his way to pick up his child.

Local authorities arrived and tried to gather the village leaders to begin talks, but locals claimed it was normal for the groups to fight each other.

Meanwhile, in the island of Bali, a group of residents clashed over land disputes in Lemukih. Armed with sickles and pellet guns, the groups set four houses on fire, but no reports of casualties or injured were made.
