I'm moving back to Thailand next year to attend graduate school in Tourism Management at Mahidol University located in Sathorn and wanting to work while in school. Teaching English is the obvious choice and actually did some volunteering teaching English down in Phuket this past winter. I've done quite of bit of research and read several forums and wanted to get some direct opinions on which school should I go to as they each offer a different certificate.

Of the eight or so schools that I've found to offer TEFL/CELTA certificates, I've narrowed my choices down to either ECC's CELTA or United Educational Consultant's TEFL. Both are about the same price. Benefit of ECC is that CELTA is a stronger certificate (opinions vary of course) and benefit of UEC's TEFL is that their school is really close to Mahidol University and I've read positive feedback regarding their management/teachers.

At the end of the day I'm looking at which course which course will give me the best opportunity to get a job and pays well.

What is your opinion? Thanks in advance.

Do you want a 'career' in English teaching? If so, why study Tourism?

If not, forget them.

Always go for the CELTA or TESOL as you can work anywhere in the world with them.

I don't think the Thai government would allow me to get a job working in a hotel or I would do that. Plus I enjoyed my teaching experience last year. Still, my career objective is to manage a hotel preferably in Asia. Perfect combination teaching English and going to school I think.
