Thai AirAsia Launches Flight from Ubon Ratchathani to Phuket

Thai AirAsia has opened a new direct route from Ubon Ratchathani to Phuket in a bid to promote local tourism.

Thai AirAsia's inaugural flight from Ubon Ratchathani to Phuket took off.

Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand's Phuket office Bang-ornrat Shinaprayoon and Director of Phuket International Airport Prathuang Sornkham welcomed both Thai and foreign passengers of the first flight upon their arrival to the resort island.

Three flights operate several times weekly, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The flight takes one hour and 45 minutes and can hold 180 passengers on each trip.

Bang ornrat said that the new route will help boost Phuket tourism and domestic travel and will accommodate travelers during the province's annual vegetarian festival and the tourist high season.
