With regard to my User CP, I go to 'Profile' & then 'Profile Information' with hopes of changing my 'Enable Profile Comments' & 'Show my friends in my profile' settings.

I am unable to change these two settings. If I attempt to change them (untick the boxes), I get an error message, which is "Location: The data you entered exceeds the maximum allowed" & nothing is changed.

Typically of this sort of issue it works ok for me in FF and IE.

OS is XP Pro with SP2, browser is Firefox 3.6.11.

I have not tried an alternate browser (I refuse to use IE).

Also, I can't make any changes to anything on that page (Profile' & then 'Profile Information').

Since you already have IE give it a try, I can't make it fail
