JAKARTA (BNO NEWS) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Sunday urged political parties in his country to work together and avoid sacrificing national unity, according to media reports.

Yudhoyono said it is normal for people to have a different political stance but said this should be in the best interest for Indonesia. "For the people, we must live in unity," he said during the ninth anniversary of the Democratic Party, which he leads.

Yudhoyono called on his party member to work hard during the next three years before Indonesians will head to the poll to elect a new President. Yudhoyono is constitutionally barred from seeking a third term.

"I ask you to always continue working and to avoid blaming each other," he added.
