Thai Defense Minister Clarifies Crackdown Of Red-Shirt Rally

Point of order. The government at the time of the airport rally (that lasted about 8 days) was a pro-Thaksin PPP led coalition. In other words Sirdar's statement makes no sense.

In the grenade attacks against the PAD supporters at the airport there were casualties. A now deceased red-shirt leader who bragged about the only dance he would do was the 'throw a grenade' dance told of those attacks before they happened.

Not true.

Maybe not true, but how do we less gifted posters know? Don't keep us in suspense, dear chap. Details please.

He doesn't know. It just doesn't fit his agenda, so he has to comment.

It's really simple. Most of the evidence points the finger at army snipers blowing the brains off red shirt demonstrators . The rest is crap, bullshit , <deleted> .

Maybe you would like to share some of that evidence .....

We don't know as long there are no official investigation results. Like the trash the 'anti-side' is pulling here, there is equally no evidence for.

But the lack of any official investigation results leads to speculation, some are more likely and some are less likely.

its speculation

He probably watch to much foreign media or get information from 'sources' that are forbidden to access in Thailand. So he probably has at least references. He could argue the government holds back this kind of information and evidence because they are not in favour of the government.

The anti-red side has another theory. A theory that is in favour of the government. So there would be no reason for the government to hold this kind of information and evidence back.

FACT is there are no official investigation results.

Surely the bottom line is that as long as free speech, open discussion and effective news reporting is blocked, banned and persecuted in the courts, we will never know the real truth. So all people can do is speculate and in the process display their personal prejudices.

Do you mean the free speech and open discussion that we are having here? Not blocked or banned.

Self censorship was, is & will always be in Thailand. Else, CRES & DSI will do it for you.

Your hero Thaksin was a great fan of resorting to legal gags, but we wouldn't want to mention that would we?

My comment on censorship was non political, despite the attempts by others to make it so. Basically as long as the outdated LM laws exist any government in power, and its politicians, will use them as an excuse to hide behind and suppress debate. Practically any comment or criticism imaginately massaged can be construed as an LM offence.
