NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) – Singer Mariah Carey during a TV interview on Thursday morning confirmed her pregnancy with her husband Nick Cannon.

"Yes, we are pregnant. This is true," Carey, 41, said on the Today Show Thursday morning as part of a sneak peek of an Access Hollywood interview.

"It's been a long journey. It's been tough because I've been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy. And that was not easy," she added, saying that the child is due in the spring although a specific date was not confirmed.

"The greatest gift on earth is a child," Cannon, 29, stated, explaining they had been through difficult situations.

The interview also reveals that the couple had a miscarriage around two years ago, of which Cannon said it had "strengthened [their] relationship."

The couple had hinted on several occasions about the pregnancy, and their desire to have children was no secret. In August, Carey was even spotted using a maternity dress, but she explained that she was being "superstitious," adding that "when the time is right, everyone will now."

As rumors had been circulating the media, the interview shows Carey's own words confirming the news.
