Folks

Any ideas how long it takes from A: submitting the citizenship forms to it being granted and then B: from being granted citizenship/submitting the request for a passport to the passport being issued?

Ive seen part A, on the gov website, as taking up to six months but thats max to cover its arse. No idea regards part B.

Many thanks

As you have said elsewhere that it is going to be at least 18 months before your wife can apply, is not this question a bit premature?

Processing times vary depending upon demand, as does the wait for a citizenship ceremony in your area. The total time between my wife submitting her application and her attending the ceremony was about 8 weeks. It was then about a month for her passport application to be processed and the passport to arrive. But this was 6 years ago and means nothing today. Likewise anyone's experience today is no guarantee that your wife will experience the same in 18 months time.

If planning ahead it is better to go with the guidelines issued by the UKBA and passport office; it hopefully wont take longer than that.

I like to forward plan as to how long it will take before we can leave! You also said that procedures rarely change, so what is current now will likely not change in 18 months, so the information is valid now and if I possess it, we are better equipped to make mid term plans.

Interesting stuff. Looking on the immigration boards, the timelines are all over the place.

But its a fair indicator, no?

Yeh, thats the way it looking. We are assuming 6 months, which could see me getting re-employed overseas at month three earliest.

Cheers
