Student Assaults Teacher Over Exam Score Dispute

A female school teacher in Uthai Thani province has been left with serious injuries after being violently attacked by a male Mathayom 5 student in front of classmates, reportedly over dissatisfaction with his midterm exam score.

According to reports, the incident occurred on 5 August when the student confronted the teacher before class, asking about his mathematics exam results. The teacher informed him that he had scored 18 out of 20 points. She explained that although his answers were correct, he had not shown the required working, as instructed in the question and therefore could not receive full marks.

The student, unhappy with the explanation, sought a second opinion from another mathematics teacher, who confirmed that marking was at the discretion of each teacher. Returning to the first teacher, the student demanded a higher score, which she refused, advising him to calm down before continuing the discussion. He reportedly kicked the teacher’s desk before leaving the room.

Around 10 minutes later, the student returned, sat briefly and demanded an apology. When the teacher challenged him, he allegedly launched a violent assault, punching her repeatedly in the face, kneeing her in the ribs and kicking her. CCTV footage reportedly shows the student delivering 14 to 15 punches, one knee strike and a kick before other students, all female, intervened.

The teacher sustained severe bruising to her face, swelling to the head and bruised ribs. She has since filed a police complaint with Nong Chang Police Station. Police are due to question her on 12 August.

The student’s parents have apologised to the teacher on their son’s behalf. The school has suspended the student, who has since submitted a request to withdraw from the institution.

The victim has stated she intends to pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law, saying the dispute over marks did not justify violence. She has also spoken of lingering trauma from the attack, which she says still causes her to startle at night.

A local teacher’s Facebook post expressing solidarity and calling for support under the hashtag #Saveครู (“Save the Teacher”) has attracted widespread attention online.

Police are continuing their investigation, while the teacher remains under medical care and emotional support.

The parents apologize for their son's behavior? Losing face is more important than actually teaching respect for others at home.He won't get jail as he's too young, and it's kinda late to teach what should have already been there. This one's very likely to go into his relationships treating women the same, and jail is a likely future.

Suck it up son and get your head into those books for nex'time.

Idiot!

Are they not anywhere else?

I wonder if the student has powerful parents.

He should feel ashamed of himself, not only for his actions but also that his parents had to make the appology on his behalf, didn't have the bottle to do it himself - truely disgracefull !!!

RTFQ is a mantra that I was taught at school, and it was often repeated (not normally with the 'F' of course.  Read every question before starting to do any writing, and underline important info, such as 'show your working'.  A great lesson for this chap in life, as long as he doesn't stay too unhinged.

A candidate for killing someone later in life in a fit of rage. Spoilt male Thai brat.

Thai media coverage showing CCTV of the incident.

18/20, i'd have considered that a very good result.
