Hi,

Pls help clarify the below. Thank you in advance.

1/ Base on my understand - Non-Imm ED is a 1 year multi entry visa, one could go in/out of Thailand unlimited times, but every 90 days one will need to do a paperwork reporting to the Immg Office. Do I need to present myself to the office personally?

2/ Where can i get ready the forms for the 90 days reporting? Where should I submit the form? Is it free?

3/ After this 1-yr Non Imm ED visa, can I continue apply for another one within Thailand w/o returning to home country? Is there any stay-away gap time needed for the next application?

4/ I copied this from the Non-Imm ED page. Can anyone pls further elaborate it in simple terms?

- Wht is that ONE EXTENSION for the FIRST 90 days? Arent all the 90 days within the 1 year the same?

This visa will allow you to stay in Thailand for 1 year subject to one extension within the first 90 days.

Basically this means you can stay in Thailand for one full year without any visa runs whatsoever, after the extension has been made. 90 day reports to the Immigration Office, still have to be made the same way as for any other visa extension.

1) If you do not leave Thailand before the 1st and every 90 days then you must make a 90 day report at Immigration - Chaengwattana if in Bangkok. You can go yourself or send a representative with a power of attorney form or you can send it by post to Immigration.

2) You can download the form : TM47 at http://www.immigration.go.th/

3) I believe you can apply to extend another year within Thailand if the course your studying complies with the Immigration rules.

4) Usually you are issued a 90 day visa and then within the first 90 days this must be extended at Immigration. Success will result in a 1 year visa ( ie 3 mths + 9 mths)

I'm not totally up to date on Non ED Visa,I'm sure other members are :)

1. An ED visa is either single entry for 90 days or multi entry for 90 days valid for one year of them. Both require you leave Thailand at or before 90 days is up.

2. There is no 90 day reporting on an ED visa entry.

3. You apply for a new visa at a Consulate outside of Thailand. There is no restriction on number if you meet the qualifications.

4. This seems to be what you are thinking about rather than multi entry visas. During the last 30 days of a 90 day stay you visit Immigration office to extend your stay using a TM.7 form/photo/1,900 baht and proof of study from school for a new 90 day stay. This continues during your education stay every 90 days. You will also have to submit a TM.47 report if you do not travel outside of Thailand for 90 days and obtain a re-entry permit prior to any travel to keep your current 90 day stay alive.

Let me rephrase if I got the understanding correctly.

- During the 1st 90 -day, need to perform 1 extension before the 90 days end (90-day/THB1900/photo extension documentation through TM7 form OR get out of the Kingdom). After the 1st extension during the 1st 90 days, the below will be applicable:

- visa validity is 1 year, once expired could be applied at Consulate outside the Kingdom

- unlimited times in/out of Thailand

- 90-day reporting still apply as other/ordinary extension

- forms submition could be done personally, or through an authorized person (is there also form available for a representative with a power of attorney?) or by post

- if get out of the Kingdom, need to submit TM47 form to get a re-entry permit to keep the visa continue valid

Thank you for all your kind clarification n advices.

What you are referring to is a Temporary Extension of Permission to Stay granted according to clause 2 of the order of the Royal Thai Police Headquarters no. 777/2551 dated on 25 November B.E.2551 Case 2.8/2.9 issued by Thai Immigration on the basis of Education; it is not a visa.

Visas can can normally only be obtained from Thai Consulates outside of Thailand, Temporary Extensions are always applied for inside of Thailand at a Thai Immgration Department - such applications are normally made in person.

You do not seem to understand so perhaps best to start with what are you planning to do. Is this a language study part time education visa from an accredited school who advise extensions of stay are available? If it is you get a single entry ED visa for a 90 day stay and before stay ends extend with TM.7/photo/fee for a new 90 day stay (in person).

On second extension an extra form will start to be required for 90 day address reporting called a TM.47 if you have not traveled (entry into Thailand starts a new 90 day count) (this can be done by mail or representative if outside normal TM.7 schedule).

If you are on an extension of stay and wish to travel outside of the country you must have a re-entry permit prior to leaving in order to return with the same permitted to stay until date.

:( Sorry, indeed I am confused.

Appreciate your patient and kindness to explain. Thank you.

As mentioned, this is the 1st time I am getting this category of visa, thus I am totally naive in it.

My visa says its a NON-IMM ED, Multi-entry.

SO,

Since mine is a M-entry, not single entry, do I still need to perform extension for the 1st 90 days with TM.7 as mentioned below?

And since mine is a multi-entry visa, do i also need to perform the every 90 days address reporting with TM.47?

Whenever I leave the Kingdom, re-entry permit is needed prior to leaving - this part is clear. Thank you.

If you are going to use a multi entry visa there is no TM.47 90 day reporting as you will never be here longer than 90 days. A multi entry visa requires you exit the country at the end of each stay of up to 90 days (as marked in your passport on arrival) and you can then immediately return for a new 90 day stay. You do not need or want re-entry permits.

Most people with language study do not have to exit and can obtain 90 day extensions of stay inside Thailand so only require a single entry visa. But as you do not mention this suspect that is not your reason for the visa issue.

The answer to all your three questions/statements above is no.

You got this visa at a Thai Consulate outside of Thailand.

You are on a normal Multiple Entry Non-immigrant Type ED visa; you must leave and re-enter Thailand before the 'Admitted Until' stamp date in your passport (you need only cross the border into another country and then you can return immediately).

Every time you enter Thailand up until the expiry date (Enter Before) of this visa, you will be give a 90 day entry stamp.

OK then.... I really didnt know such huge differences betw M and S entry.

As far as I could, I really try to avoid travelling in my case. With this M entry visa, looks like I still need to go u-turn every 90 days. It's better then other tourist visa though...

Any way I could get to "convert" the M to a S, and then do the 90-day reporting w/out having to take the hassel to travel out from the Kingdom (every 90 days)?

Pls advice.

Thank you once again.

You don't need to convert from multiple to single. On both you can get a 1 year extension of stay with the relevant papework from your school, showing you are actually studying.
