Jacks Golf Alternative

Recommended Posts

hi there

is there any better alternative to jacks golf for a visa run (from BKK), a friend went and said the bus broke down, and this was the second time, apparently they don't maintain the buses anymore.

any other companies offering comforatble and reliable services to a border?

cheers

How About doing it by yourself ?

1) Go to century department store) closed to victory monument on the road wich leads to siam/mbk

2.) On the right side of the entrance which has a sky bridge to the BTS Station there is a minivan station.

3.) Go to the minivan station and ask for Aranyaprathet Since they have also vans to Hua Hin and Pattaya they do speak some words of english

4.) Take the van cost as of last month was 240 Baht

5.) The van will leave you 300m from the border just walk straight and don't listen to anyone. ( a lot of scammers there) If you need to ask for the way ask at the banks or 7 eleven

6.) Go trough the Thai border and as soon as you cross the bridge cross over to the right side and you will see a house were you can apply for the visa on arrival cost is 20$ or 1000 Baht (I know it is not the same but it is the scam they have mounted there)

7.) Once you get your visa continue walking on the right side past a hotel/casino until Cambodian immigration arrival. Stamp in and leave. Cross the roads to the other side

8.) On the other side you have a place called Cambodian immigration departure. Stamp out and walk back to the bridge just before the bridge cross to the other side.

9.) Continue walking and go inside the thai immigration stamp in and go back to the van station

Note

Last van from the border leaves at 15:30 so you should try to be at the van station in bangkok before 9

Normally the van takes a bit more than 2 and halve hour and at the border it will take you between 50 -70 minutes so you can calculate a maximum of 8 hours

Cost for all together is around 1400 Baht

With jack holiday or other visa run services you will leave bangkok before 7 and return around 5 or 6 the lunch they offer is the crap and their buses are old specially if you compare them to the new minivans used from century to the border

Nice tip, thanks!

you can get you visa in BKK at the Cambodian embassy before you go, cant recall the cost as I have not done this in about 5-6 years. I had a travel agent pick up my passport take to embassy and return for me. I think I paid 300 baht more but by the time you figure in taxis and your time it's worth the extra. This will save you allot of time and hassle at the boarder, just get dropped off of through Thai side walk over to Cambodia side and go in out and back, depending on lines can be between 30 minutes and 1 hour. The guys in Cambodia are going to try and get a 100 baht or so from you by telling you that you need to stay for 1 day, tell them no way you never pay.

good luck.

A few years ago, when I was doing runs instead of using my O-A long term visa, I went with Thai Visa Run. I was very satisfied.

Yes, it costs more than doing it yourself, but for the added convenience and comfort (bus instead of van), it was worth it. Good timing, too, leaving at a reasonable time in the morning from just across from Ekamai BTS, and returning the same evening.

Can't remember what it cost me, but if I needed another run, I'd go with them for the convenience and comfort. Everything taken care of for you.
