Blekko – Competition In The Search Engine World?

Earlier this week, a new search engine called blekko launched in beta. The site states that blekko is “a better way to search the web by using slashtags. Slashtags search only the sites you want and cut out the spam sites.” Using a slashtag in your search is a way to narrow or specify your results. Below is an example of a search for “electronic discovery.” Adding a term after the slashtag would limit the results to only websites dealing with that particular topic.

It won't compete with the likes of Google and Bing. More likely the competition will come from places like Mahalo, and other human powered directories.
