Hi, looking at my options for renewing my multi non imm O visa based on marriage, as I have in past used hull, what closer options are there for me, can I renew from within thailand - (offered this service by an official at the immigration office for an all in fee),,,,,, assuming it was a shady and can't be done as I hear on this site so many expats travelling across border to renew, and not hear much about renewals from within thailand.

You can easily obtain one year extensions of stay inside Thailand if you meet the financial conditions of 400k in bank account two months or 40k per month income.

Multi entry visas, as you now have, are not available inside Thailand and any issue of such while you are in the country would not be considered a legal stamp.

KL is the best Embassy locally to obtain but will require 100k in bank and normal marriage certificate and wife ID/home ledger type copies.

thanks for that Lopburi, my situation is that I am in and out every 5 weeks, with the 1 year extension can I still enter/exit as in multi entry ??

In addition to the extension of stay for 1,900 baht you would require a re-entry permit at 3,800 baht (after extension final). As this extension requires your passport (normally 30 days after application) to stamp final extension it could be an issue if office can not accommodate your work schedule. Perhaps KL would be your best option until living here full time.

As said . When applying for the 12 month extension you are given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

You have to go back in 30 days to collect the extension.

Ok thanks for that guys, I hear stuff about supporting a thai child or having a thai child as is my situation, but I assume this is not relevant to my non O renewal, so the timeline would be 30 days in thailand for the extension, ok looks like I shall be paying a visit to KL after all,

thanks for the advice

I wonder if someone can clarify this footnote I saw on the requirements page for non imm O visa application on the KL website ""**Upon application time make sure you do not have any valid Thai visa on your passport """ Hmmm... I had planned to travel to KL for renewal about 2 weeks before my non Imm O visa expired ??? surely this is not correct that renewals cannot be processed until after the expiry date of the current visa,,

Not more than one valid visa can be in passport so old visa would have to be canceled first and if they did not issue the visa they may not wish to cancel it.

This is about a valid visa (multi entry with more use allowed) - not a valid permitted to stay (which would end on departure of Thailand).

yes, my current multi non imm O visa expires in early january, I obtained that from hull, I thought I would renew at KL a couple weeks before expiry of the non imm O visa,, but from what you say KL may not be able to cancel as it was issued elsewhere, ok I have another question, I hold a second UK passport with no thai entry in that, can I then submit this other passport for application of a non imm O visa at KL with the existing non imm O still having 2 weeks to run on my first passport....??

sorry for the scenarios, but I am working offshore now and trying to plan ahead for when I return,,, I thought I saw somewhere, maybe it was on this site, that it looks better for (future) retirement etc visa applications if there is a history with no break in previous non immigrant O visas issued to your passport ,,,,,, I cannot now find where I saw this information so the possibility/probability is that I am mistaken about this,,

thanks

Nobody is checking for an unbroken history of visas - the thing you probably heard is that for PR three years of being here on one year extensions of stay is required for application.

As there is no need for continuous visas I would just get the new one after the old expires. Using a second passport could come to light at some point and cause questions to be asked needlessly.

Yes I think that is where I heard that information from,,,,, Ok I think as you suggest and allow visa to expire before renewal is what I must do,,,I might add that my second passport is used for work purposes and has been obtained lawfully, but I think I know what you mean when you say that "using a second passport could come to light and cause questions to be asked",,,,,, I know "this is thailand" and some other countries do not understand or recognise that anyone should have 2 in date passports,, thus the needless questions..

many thanks again Lopburi.
