ATLANTA, GEORGIA (BNO NEWS) -- Delta Air Lines and AirTran Airways announced on Monday that they have teamed up with Google Chrome to provide free Wi-Fi to passengers during the upcoming holiday season.

The two air carriers will offer free in-flight Wi-Fi to customers on flights equipped with Gogo Inflight Internet from November 20 to January 2. This service will allow passengers with Wi-Fi enabled devices such as laptops and smartphones to navigate the Internet while flying.

"We are delighted to join forces with Google Chrome to give our loyal customers free in-flight Wi-Fi," said Tad Hutcheson, vice president of marketing and sales for AirTran Airways. "We are happy to add free Wi-Fi on every AirTran Airways flight this holiday season."

Delta expects that more than 11 million customers will benefit from the holiday promotion. Currently, Delta has around 540 Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft flying more than 2,200 domestics flights each day. The air carrier began installing Wi-Fi on its domestic fleet in 2008.

"Our holiday promotion with Google's Chrome browser team allows us to offer our customers free Wi-Fi as a small token of appreciation while also making it easier for them to squeeze last-minute shopping into their hectic schedules or connect with family members as they head home for the holidays," said Tim Mapes, Delta's senior vice president of Marketing.

Google Chrome was first launched over two years ago and it has become a worldwide known web browser due to its speed, simplicity and security. The web browser features a sleek user interface, cutting-edge speed improvements and an innovative security architecture.

The web browser was designed to be fast, simple and safe. Google Chrome also offers a quick start up, fast load of web pages, capability of running complex applications, and a built-in detection of malware and phishing sites that provides greater protection to users.

"We are constantly working to help provide a better web experience to users around the world," said Sundar Pichai, Vice President of Product Management at Google. "Whether it be building a better browser with Chrome or bringing free Wi-Fi to air travelers this holiday season, we are constantly innovating to ensure users' access to the web is fast, simple and seamless."
