Nudism is one of the anomolies of Thailand. Exotic dancers abound in Pattaya bars, and prostitutes are not hard to find. But, for the most part, Thai women are modest, and that includes the hookers. Women of the night will come out of the shower wrapped in a big towel and won't take it off until hidden under the blankets. By contrast, the women of the Philippines are more casual about nudity. The only real difference is the Philippines is Catholic and Thailand is Buddhist. European women are very open about nudity. Walk along any beach in Portuagal or Spain and there are topless beauties for as far as the eye can see. Of course, if you spend any time in the beach areas of Thailand then it's not unusual to see topless European women, but almost never total nudity. But, you won't find many Thai nudists... if any.

Koh Larn is one of the saving graces of the Pattaya area. it's an easy, cheap day trip away from the dirty beaches between Jomptien and North Pattaya. The water is much clearer on the island and there is even a bit of worthwhile snorkling. 15 years ago many of the Island's beaches were mostly deserted. Now it's much more crowded.

BUT, as already stated... there's now lots of lovely, friendly Russian gals.

If you're traveling with fellow nudists, you have increasing naturist options in Thailand. There are resorts that cater to naturist/nudists; another other option is to rent a secluded villa with a swimming pool. Either way you can use one as your base of operations for the balance of a conventional, textile vacation.

A growing Thailand Naturist Association recently formed. At last count there were over 450 members. Monthly meeting are held as well as special events, nud_e cruises, and other outings. They are continually researching resorts that could be used for naturism.

Pattaya is on the seacoast about 1.5 hours east of from Bangkok. so you have access to the long, wide beach there. There are off shore islands that have been used for naturist activities. There’s a lot to do and see in the area plus Pattaya is on the mainland, south-southeast of Bangkok about 110+ miles so it's easy to visit both cities. You can reach Pattaya via ground transportation via bus or train in 1.5 hours if you choose, resorts will arrange transportation if requested.

Chan Twin Resort (previously Chan Resort)

Chan Twin Resort for Nudists: A new clothing optional property that might appeal to nudists primarily is being advertised for nudist use. Chan Twin Resort is a member of the Naturist Friendly Resorts of Thailand Naturists. Chan Twin Resort is located in Pattaya where we've visited before.

Chan Resort (under construction)

This new resort is under construction and hopefully will have its grand opening in early 2011. The resort owners consulted Thailand Naturist Association on resort design aspects that would be complimentary to naturists.

Edina nud_e Cruises

The Edina has twice before conducted nud_e cruises with Thailand Naturist Association, one for a full day and another for two days cruise of the off shore island of Pattaya.

I think semi nudity is an appropriate expression, although topless would be more accurate. I can't recall EVER seeing anyone totally nud_e on a Thai beach. But, I've seen a lot of topless Europeans. That is totally unlike the nud_e beaches in Australia, Europe and North America. There are several popular nudist beaches in British Columbia, Canada where I'm from, and many in Australia.

If you're into naturism you'd be better off staying in the west; as others have already pointed out Thais have a very uptight relationship with nudity. Which really is a bit twisted considering the amount of prostitution that goes on fairly open.

It is not twisted. It is Thai culture. Ladies don't give anything away for free even a peek. Notice the bras. If you want to see a nip. You gonna pay in one way or another.

Yes public nudity is not legal, what the naturist do is go to Private Resorts.
