there used to be a newspaper stand just up from the station on other side of road to Big C back when I lived there or if not in Big C it self is couple of paper/magazine shops

There isn't a Big C within a couple of miles of Saphan Taksin. I think he means Robinson. If I am corrrect on that, when he says "up from the station", he means north. The Robinson store is on the west side of Charoen Krung Road, the small shops are on the east side.
