Heat Exchanger (Used)

Featured Replies

I am making a DIY airconditioner and would like to source some car parts to experiment with.

I need a heatexchanger that will cool down the air passing through it as efficiently as possible.

I though of building something like this: http://www.crt-performance.com/images/GT500/C&R%20GT500%20Intercooler%20&%20Fans.jpg

but then more easily available and a lot less fancy and costly.

Do you have junkyards that would have these kind of items?

Does anyone know how heatexchanger is written in Thai?

If you can use air to water it will be more efficient, all you need then is copper pipe coil in water, the water would need to be circulated also. I would look for a old household air con system otherwise unless you polan to put your device in a car.

The plan is icewater through a heatexchanger. Copper coil is not that efficient because the surface area is rather small. And it is not that easy to find in local shops. Attaching fins to the coil would increase efficiency, exactly what a ready made heatexchanger is. I looked at some home airconditioner system but most of them are rather large. I want to use it to cool a car or small van.

Where will you get a continuous supply of ice water in a car? Also the water will cause Aluminium to corrosion.

I need only a short cooling period, while the engine is off. About 10-15 kilo of ice will suffice.

I would prefer copper to prevent corrosion problems, if the only available ones are aluminium i guess i need some form of glycol. This however would require a more elaborate system, i would like to keep it as simple as possible.
