I got a non-imm O from Hull for purposes of visting family. Its valid for 1yr, I got 90 days on my 1st entry, just went to Phuket Immigration to ask for 30 day extension (I heard this was possible) but they said they would only grant 7days?? Can anybody confirm this? Have the rules changed recently? Thanks,

7 days sounds correct, normally people apply for a one year "Extension of Stay" if they meet the requirements for, marriage, retirement, work, etc. 30 day extensions are for Tourist Visa extensions, no rule changes lately.

If it's still a valid multi-entry, just exit the country and re-enter for another 90 days.

Do you have a Thai wife/child or are you just saying visiting family when it is really visit to friends (which Hull is known for)?

Family visit entry can be extended 60 days with proof.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm visiting my boyfriend, so no proof of spouse/children. Ok was just little surprised cos I researched beforehand and thought i could get 30day extension without any proof.

The visa is valid for 1yr so until Aug 19 2011. So if I do a visa run just before Aug 19 , they will still stamp 90 days and so this means I can stay in the country until this 90days or Aug 19th??

I mean, the visa will expire before the last permission to stay stamp if that makes sense. So which do they go by?

Your permitted to stay stamp - visa can expire before that with no effect.

A valid visa is only required for obtaining the permitted to stay stamp (entry).

That is correct. 90 days after re entry.
