Meditation Retreat Recommendations

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if anyone can suggest somewhere in thailand for a meditation retreat. I know there are lots of places but we're after something a bit more specific - I have looked through the information in the buddhism forum and haven't found anywhere that seems to fit and done the obvious googling.

My girlfriend and I would like to

1. Find somewhere in a beautiful location (i.e. not in a town) e.g. in the mountains or by the sea

2. Spend a week doing meditation with has some spiritual basis.

3. Stay somewhere that allows couples to share their accomodation - a number of -places insist on single sex rooms.

4. Also be able to do some yoga.

Suggestions that meet this criteria would be really appreciated. Thanks

There are a few temples in Surat Thani which organize English meditation courses designed for foreigners.

I don’t know them by mind but you can find them with Google.

Try Tao Garden, Doi Saket, 20 kms outside Chiang Mai, but it is expensive.

There is a Vipassana Center in Chai Ya which is in Surat Thani province. http://www.suanmokkh-idh.org/
