French President Sarkozy calls journalists pedophiles following controversial questions

2010-11-23 05:02:08 GMT+7 (ICT)

PARIS (BNO NEWS) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Monday called journalists at the Lisbon NATO summit pedophiles after being questioned over the 2002 Karachi attack, allegedly linked to former French Prime Minister Edouard Balladur.

President Sarkozy was questioned by a journalist about the alleged ties of the former PM with the 2002 bombing that killed 11 French engineers in the Pakistani city of Karachi.

Sarkozy became angered with the question and told the reporter that he firmly believed that he was a pedophile. He added that the French secret service had reported to him that the journalist was a pedophile.

After that, it was reported that another journalist asked him about information that indicated that Sarkozy's name appears in the documents showing that his party deposited around ten million francs (around $2 million) in alleged kickbacks to Balladur's campaign bank account.

The French President became even more angered and left the room. Before leaving he told the reporters "see you tomorrow, pedophile friends." Sarkozy has previously labeled the allegations as a "grotesque fairy tale."

Balladur lost the election to Jacques Chirac, who scrapped a number of defense commissions to Pakistan. Reports suggest that the attack on the French engineers in southern Pakistan was a retaliation for the scrapped defense commissions.

The "Karachi affair," as it has been named in France, is currently under investigation by a judge over the allegations that the illegal kickbacks were used to found the presidential campaign of then-Prime Minister Balladur. The campaign director was current President Sarkozy.
