SEATTLE (BNO NEWS) -- A China Airlines cargo plane went off the runway at Sea-Tac Airport near Seattle on late Monday afternoon, federal and aviation officials said, but no injuries were reported.

Flight 5391, a Boeing 747-400 Freighter, had taken off from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York at approximately 1.46 p.m. EST and was landing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport near Seattle when it went off the end of runway 34L at around 4.30 p.m. PST.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Sea-Tac confirmed none of the crew members on board the aircraft had been injured. The airport said the plane had gone off the runway by about 100 feet (30.4 meters), but had not sustained damage.

It is believed the pilots lost control of the aircraft due to ice on the runway, which later forced officials to temporarily halt all incoming flights.

The last time I looked China Airways safety record it was in the bottom 10 so is it a surprise and a good reason to always check safety records with any carrier before saving a bit of dosh life is too precious.
