หมอยาสลบ = Anaesthesiologist / Anaesthetist

Featured Replies

หมอยาสลบ = anaesthesiologist / anaesthetist. This is the colloquial term for the occupation in question. I know there is a more formal term but have forgotten what it is. I'm looking for this formal term and for the word or words that describe the medical specialist occupation of intensivist.

Thanks so much for that. Do you also happen to know the Thai term for the medical speciality, intensivist?

intensivist = แพทย์เวชบำบัดวิกฤต (paet way-cha-bum-but-wik-rit)

To explain what this person actually does, you might say เป็นหมอที่รักษาคนไข้ในห้องไอซียู--"a doctor who takes care of patients in ICU".

Thanks Peppy, your help is much appreciated.

Nice one Peppy, i had a little scour about on the internet but couldn't find that, no luck. I did find หน่วยอภิบาล though which is the more formal term for the ICU if anyone's interested.
