4G (LTE) Officially launches in the US this weekend

Verizon's announcement

They're not running data on it as fast as the existing LTE networks in Scandinavia that launched last year, but 6-12 Mbps down, and 2-5Mbps up on a mobile phone is still better than we get in Thailand on ADSL.

I know current LTE isn't officially 4G as officially it needs 50Mb download speeds for that, but it is the agreed next step after 3G (it's already launched in parts of Europe, and launching in the States, with Verizon, which is the biggest carrier there).
