Hi!

My girlfriend has Chinese (PRC) and Swedish citizenship. Is it possible for her to get a

tourist visa to Thailand in China (on the Chinese passport), go to Thailand and then

continue to Europe using the Swedish passport or will this create fuss at the airport at

check-in or passport control?

I know it is possible to get visa on arrival for EU citizens, but in the current situation

she needs to use the Chinese passport to go to Thailand. She has had tourist visas

to Thailand before so I hope it will not be a problem to get another one.

Anders

It is not a problem. Entering Thailand present the PRC passport. On departure you will have to present the PRC passport again, but the airline will want to see the EU passport as proof she will be able to enter when you arrive there.

Tourist visa in Chinese passport, Thai arrival stamp in Chinese passport.

Bangkok departure: at airline check-in show Chinese and Swedish passports, at immigration desk show only Chinese passport and get Thai departure stamp in Chinese passport.

European airport arrival: at immigration, show only Swedish passport.

Thanks everyone for the quick answers!

This really makes life easier.......

Anyway, I take it that the airlines will not create an issue just because there is no stamp in

the Swedish passport, and just want to be sure she is not sent back at their expense. And

that Thai immigration just wants to see that she exits in time on the same passport she

used to enter?

The names in the passports match exactly, the PRC passport has both Chinese characters

and romanisation, the Swedish passport has only romanisation, but they match perfectly.

Correct just show to airline check-in to prove no visa is required for the flight destination. Almost every flight will have several passengers doing the same thing so not unusual at all.
