in feb next year i will be going to thailand for 69 days with thai wife(brittish passport holder) i see that hull seems easiest/best for visas. we will be travelling to laos for a week prob early march, we stay about 1 hrs drive from chon mek border crossing also probably returning to los in sep for another 70 days so a couple of questions.

1 which type of visa should i apply for

2 is it better for wife to travel out of uk on brit and enter thaiand on thai one , and visa versa..

Answer to #2 = Yes

Answer to #1 -- Hull if it is easy, but all you need for 69 days is a single entry tourist visa (free at the embassy right now) and an extension in Thailand (1900 baht)

secondary answer to #1 -- Apply at Hull with your Thai wife as support for a multi-entry non O and not have to think about entries and exits or extensions

My suggestion for you (Brit, I assume) is to get a double-entry tourist visa. Each entry will allow you to stay for 60 days, and since you will be going to Laos sometime in the middle of the trip, you'll be fine.

Alternative is a double-entry class O based on marriage, but that will be a lot more paperwork.

As for your wife, if she has both British and Thai nationality, she needs to enter Thailand on her Thai passport. That is not only required, but it will also give her unlimited stay in Thailand, so no need for visa questions. She'll switch her nationality in mid-air from London to Bangkok, that's no problem.

If she does not have a Thai passport any more, you're both British and can only follow my first suggestion above.

thanks guys for the replys,

yes mrs scotty has both, so prob solved there,

and ill try for the double entry 60 day visa for myself.

did think about the marriage and retirement ones but thought too much work involved for first and also staying for 6 months a year might be no use for retirement visa.

1. As he has stated return for over 70 days in another entry it seems to make much more sense to obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa. There is no such thing as a "double-entry". A multi entry non immigrant O visa will be issued by Hull (and most places) with proof of marriage (nothing else required except payment). This will cover any and all travel to Thailand for a year, regardless of how many side trips he wants to make.

2. Wife can use UK for exit/entry to UK and Thai for entry/exit of Thailand. But there is no requirement to do so. She can enter Thailand using any passport she has and be completely legal. But would be subject to visa requirements.
