I was listening to MET radio the other day in the car and heard something about not needing to go to the border for a visa stamp? and can do it at suvanibumi airport? is this right? has anyone heard about this and or done this as this would obviously be an awesome thing if its true but it seems to easy ?

No. The news is that they are now offering reeentry permits at the airport. That was a service that was previously offered but not recently. Now it is again. What it means is that if you have a current visa or extension and you want to preserve the permission to stay on that for when you reenter Thailand, you can purchase a reentry stamp again at BKK BEFORE flying out. It is still recommended to get these stamps at Thai immigration offices before going to the airport. The news does NOT mean people can do visa runs within the country.

You heard wrong, Kish. You cannot get a visa stamp at Suvarnabhumi airport.

You can still go to airport fly out/in same day. That can be easier that driving to a land border post.

I think what you mean is that you wan to be able to come into Thailand and stay as long as you darned well please.
