President Obama signs disaster declaration for Arizona to open federal funding

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday signed a disaster declaration for Arizona following severe storms and flooding which struck the region in early October.

With the signing, the State of Arizona will offered Federal aid to supplement State, Tribal, and local recovery efforts in the affected area. Certain private nonprofit organizations will also be able to receive federal funding on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms and flooding in the Sovereign Tribal Nation of the Havasupai Tribe.

In addition, federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for the Sovereign Tribal Nation of the Havasupai Tribe.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the State and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
