Hi, I have two questions

1).Does anyone know where I might be more likely to get a non immigrant o visa ? I am thinking either K. L. or P.P.

2) I will be applying based on plans for retirement visa (have the cash in bank) or maybe.. I have a thai son with my GIRLFRIEND (not wife) who I support full time. Any ideas which visa would be the least hassle? Any input would be much appreciated..

Single entry non-O based on retirement you can get at any consulate in the region.

Only have to be over 50 years and can show bank statement of 8000.000 baht or Embassy letter stating 65.00 baht/month in income.

Less hassle with visa based on retirement unless you are married.

You probably didn't legitimize the child and the question is if you live with the child or not. However, the birth certificate should be enough for getting a non-O visa. But unless my presumptions are wrong you will not get an extension of stay.

In practise you probably will only have the option of getting an extension of stay based on retirement. But as said, for the visa itself you can either apply based on retirement or having Thai child.

Thanks a lot for the input.Wolfgang BKK .In fact went to Immigration this morning and found that I can get a Non Imm. O visa without leaving the country. (in my case need to do a border run because T.V. expires on Mon.) Just need to show a 2 week entry stamp and bank book. BTW Mario 2208..I did legitimize the child ( he has Canadian citizenship as well) and I do live with him and his mother. Thanks again for the input.

What you obtain from Immigration is a change to non immigrant entry for 2,000 baht and then you can extend for 1,900 baht. You need a week or two remaining on current stay to do this process so you will have to make at least a border run anyhow. You did not say where you are located but a trip to Bangkok is often required for this process from upcountry areas.
