Getting Thai Msn Page After Hotmail Logout.

After logging out of Hotmail I used to get a Thai MSN page but with the option of "Always go to USA page" or something like that.

Recently I'm getting a slightly different MSN page in Thai when logging out of Hotmail but no where I can see an option to change it to English.

Anyone know how to get the English MSN page back.

That's because it's in Thai, but at the end of the link it says MSN.COM. See the circled area on this image.

Click on it and it will take you to msn.com in English.

Thanks "BB" that works. I did ask the (Thai) Missis to have a look and she didn't see it

Strange they don't have it in English, if your looking to change the page you probably can't read Thai, so why not have an English link. The TIT phenomena seems to be going global :o

Yes "69" I realize it's a location thing but as I said up until recently they had the option to change to English clearly visible. Maybe they think all the Farangs have left now. B)

Cheers.

The misses probably didn't understand it. " ไปเว็บไซต์ " roughly means "To the site", according to Google translate.

I've noticed the Microsoft people here don't take in consideration of the English speaking people. With Google, once you set Google to English, a cookie is set to always take you to the Google web pages in English. Not true with Microsoft. Everything keeps ending up in Thai again.

I've also noticed the Thai's don't seem to understand the links. They seem to click and see what happens. The same seems to be true when the menus and buttons of Windows are in Thai as well. A Thai computer guy (who speaks excellent English) told me once that even he didn't understand some of the Thai translations on the menus and buttons as well. It's a real pain in the neck when you go to install Thai software packages. Doesn't say much for the use of the Thai language in the modern world. :whistling:

I agree with you, there should be an English button that should be clearly identified when you arrive at the site from an English language link. But anymore, I find Google translate very helpful in those situations. Without it, I would be lost.

:welcomeani: to Thailand.

Hello.

In my case, I believe Microsoft actually is using cookies. Whenever I clear my cookie cache (which gets rid of the MSN cookie, obviously) the next time I sign out of my Hotmail/MSN accounts I am given the option of going on to the Thai site, which is related to my isp location, or Always Going To MSN U.S. site. I have to do this, as I said, whenever I clear my cookie cache. If I somehow get the MSN cookie set to go to the Thai site, I clear my cookie cache and get the option dialogue box where I set it to Always go to MSN U.S. site and it changes the cookie to reflect that.

The Missis is fairly computer literate and can work in Thai or English. I had asked her to look for something like "English Link" and in fairness to her the link does not say "English or Link".

As mentioned something lost in the translation and even if I knew Thai I would not have thought to click on that obscure link.

"hm1367" Had the very same situation until just a short while ago when they changed the MSN logout page to this new one without the easy English option.

Another winge about the new page is that it does not let you keep the English setting like before, you have to click the link each time.

Actually, for the last 2 days when I sign out of my Hotmail/MSN email accounts I get the IE9 Thank you for downloading or promotion page. That happens on both my Windows 7-64 with IE9 and Chrome browser and also on my Windows Vista-32 with IE8 and Chrome.

Maybe I'll try deleting my cookies and see what happens.

Apparently Microsoft is migrating My MSN users to a new page they have been working on. The migration is happening sooner than they had planned. I don't know if this is exactly what may be causing which page displays, however, it seems it could have something to do with it.

I still get the IE9 pages when I sign out of any of my Hotmail, MSN, or Live mail accounts.

When I try to browse to www.msn.com, I get the Thai page displayed.

I have initiated a service request with MSN Support.

I was getting directed to the IE9 pages when signing out of Hotmail, etc. Then it went to the Thai MSN page. Then back to the IE9 pages. Now it is back to the Thai MSN page.

Hotmail support said they are working on the problem. Or is that from a book?

By the way, when I use Google Chrome, which I did not delete the cookies from, the signout from Hotmail still goes to MSN US.

Today, Friday the 28th, I was again presented with the dialogue box to select the US MSN page or the Thai MSN page.

This is an old topic but it was not solved I believe.

So here is the procedure to get ride of that unwanted landing page after logout, tested January 2013:

Login to your hotmail account.

Clic Profile on the up right corner.

You will get redirected to your MSN Profile infos.

Edit your contact infos and make sure the country is the one you want.

Then, still on your MSN Profile infos, clic Account Settings next to your name on the up right corner.

You are then moved to an account settings page of MSN.

Clic Edit Personal Info and make sure your Home country is the one you want, as well as Work country.

I believe only the Account Personal Info details are important, but my note will make you change everything to be clean.

Nothing to clean or to think about cookies or geographical location of your Internet line.

Thank you.

Been messing around with this for someone today and found the link after I'd worked it out - http://www.msn.com/?st=1 will get you to the US site. My get-around to try and find some information from the MSN site (there wasn't any) was to use .co.uk to force it to another regional site (any English language one will do - have used that one and .com.au to get out of many tight corners). Very short-sighted of them to not give an option in English to use English.

When I get the Th MSN site I go to the bottom of the Th page and use the link to http://www.msn.com/worldwide.aspx Then you can pick which site you want set in the cookie. US English is under "Americas". If you don't allow cookies, you would probably always get the location site.

The link to MSN Worldwide is the 7th link from the left across the bottom of the page. If your status bar is set to "view", the link above will show in the status bar when you hover on the correct link.

IMO its the 'locale' settings under CP - Regional. and/or a combination of your IP address with MS trying to second guess what you want.

Your could be right, I don't know except what has worked for me.

I have a Hotmail account set to USA. Occasionally it starts logging out to the Thai MSN page. When it does and the option to go to MSN US is not at the top of the page I use what I described and it works for me. That is ok for me.
