Students Age 8 And 10 Educational Visa

Featured Replies

My two kids (ages 5 and 8) have educational visas which are current. They go to international school full time. 2 years ago I was told at immigration children under 14 didn't need to do visa runs.

The visas are current but the children don't have a 3 month stamps since they didn't do visa runs. They have not left Thailand in 2 years.

I am the parent and my visa / stamps are current as I leave every 3 months.

Can you point me to Thai law online that says children don't need to do visa runs as I was told?

Will there be a problem for the children when we all leave Thailand on holiday? IF so, what do we do?

Thank you

Do your kids have Visas or Extensions obtained from Immigration.

Your children seem to be on overstay as a visa entry is not current is only valid for the permitted to stay time. If you mean they are on one year extensions of stay for education and have not been doing 90 day address reports there is no exception for that because of age and the fine is normally 2k (but could be up to 5k - plus 200 baht per day if payment is not made).

As for overstay the policy is no fine for those 14 or younger but it is not a law AFAIK.

On exit from overstay there passport may be marked but there is no fine or issue.
