Quadruplets and triplets born in North Korean hospital

PYONGYANG (BNO NEWS) -- Two sets of quadruplets and triplets were born in the North Korean capital of Pyongyang last week, according to state-run media on Friday.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that a woman identified as Jon Myong Suk gave birth to three babies at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital on December 23. She had been treated at the hospital's infertility research room as she had been unable for years to get pregnant.

Just days later, on December 26, a woman identified as Pyon Kum Ok of Yonsan County in North Hwanghae Province gave birth to four babies at the same hospital. She had been told in October that she was pregnant of quadruplets.

"The quadruplets are growing well in incubators and their mother is in good health," KCNA said in a news report, adding that the quadruplets are the fifth set to be born at the hospital since it was opened. It has, however, seen nearly 300 sets of triplets being born.
