Featured Replies

Sounded like a war zone last night at mid night and, as of 5:45 this AM, the're still going at it. At least I got about 3hrs. of sleep. I don't recall previous years celebrations being this intense. What a display, lit the whole city!

yeah, speaking of weapons fire, that was a thought I had last night as well, got to check for little holes in our roof later today when it gets light.

After such a shitty year it is no wonder the locals want to let their hair down with a big bang, and they did.

Spectacular.

My canines were none to happy though. :)

Canuck... Those are some great photos!

Thanks guys, it was some sort of International competition, 5 hours of fireworks, I was bound to get a few good ones.

The sky over the Pai valley was absolutely filled with thousands of ascending khom loy with fireworks going off all over down below. Spectacular as it was quiet afterwards, at least from my vantage point.

Very good pics, what are you using for a camera. Better than bcl's for sure.

Just a Canon 30D and a tripod. most manual cameras can do the same.

I forgot to add this fireworks butterfly

Quite in my neighbourhood.:unsure:

How Sad

Do you live in a community where people think they have arrived and are now ready to die. They have seen it all.:(

I'm out of town in the wife's village south of Surin. Normaly the only thing you hear is the chickens and fish jumping on the pond at night plus the community speaker at 6AM.:lol: But they did start their own fire works about sundown last night and they are still going as I post. The village New Years Party is tomorrow with free Chang beer and Thai whisky.:D

Wow.. I also noticed the huge crowds in the Thapae Area. And almost as many hot air balloons as at Loy Krathong. I don't remember that enthousiastic a celebration several years ago.. Excellent!

I had a great night. My first NY eve in Chiang Mai. Was very impressive!

@canuk

Superb shots.. Really nice captures.. Made me wish I took a tripod and spent more time to get located.
