Bt400-billion budget deficit expected for 2012

By The Nation

The government will run a budget deficit for fiscal year 2012 not more than Bt400 billion, or not exceeding 4 per cent of GDP, Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwankhiri says today.

He added that the revenue projection would be Bt1.9 trillion.

Based on the revenue projection, this can assume that the primary expenditures for 2012 should be Bt2.3 trillion, said a market observer.

Trairong said that the concept of investment would be also changed, leading to a lower-investment spending. In the past, the average reimbursement was 76 per cent of total budgeted investment spending. From now, the investment budget would more reflect the real spending.
