Short Entry From Penang

Featured Replies

I'm currently staying in Penang. Next month I plan to visit Thailand for about two weeks. I expect to take the train from Butterworth to Bangkok and back again.

My question is, am I better to get a 15 day stamp (is that right?) at the border or should I apply for a 60 day visa at the consulate in Penang?

The only reason I have against the 15 day stamp is that I will have less flexibility. If for some reason I choose to stay longer, I can't.

On the other hand, the 60 day visa is free at the moment. But are they being reasonable at the consulate in Penang these days? My previous recent entries into Thailand were of about 30 days in both July and October 2010.

I'm an Australian citizen.

Suspect it should not be a problem getting the tourist visa.

That was very quick. Thanks Lopburi
