Thai Vehicle Registration Plate Translation

Featured Replies

Hope to take my car to Malaysia soon. Anyone know which or all border crossing points can issue the registration plate translation?

Thanks :)

you just have to put stickers with roman alphabetics for thai letters and the province.

As far as I am aware you need to have the log book for the car translated and not just Roman numerals put on the license plate though you do need those as well. You also need to buy insurance for the duration of your stay in Malaysia but you can get this at the border.

You need to go to the vehicle office in lipa noi to have the log book translated then you get your insurance, sticker with number plate in english at the border (malaysian side ) and a sticker that goes in your window (this is what you need the log book translation for)

Thanks folks. As for border crossing places, are they all able to do the plates?

not sure if they are at every border crossing i have always gone to Sadao as soon as you come out of customs there is row of parking spaces on the left side and on the opposite side of the road there is a row of shophouse where the insurance is and the government vehicle building is next to it.
