jpinx Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Will immigration in Bangkok grant an extension to a 15-day permission to stay. That was what I defaulted to when I entered by land last time without a visa because I have too many back-to-back tourist visas in my passport. Or which Thai embassy in local countries will give me a new 60 day tourist visa in spite of the handwritten note on the last visa granted at Savanakhet, Laos? Or are there any other options?
Lite Beer Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Immigration will give 7 days max to leave the country. Vientienne Laos should issue a Tourist Visa.
lopburi3 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I seriously doubt Vientiane will even consider issue of another tourist visa after Savanakhet has entered such information (or even without). Some have used agents in PP for questionable passports but with such an entry I suspect success may not be in the cards.
jpinx Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 If I do get a 7day extension will I be able to do a visa run and get another 15day permission to stay back-to-back even with 3 previous tourist visas back-to-back? I would like to spin this out till about 10th March when I need to go back to Europe and sort out several things to make a longterm stay here possible - maybe a retirement visa (I'm 64) Also - will a 7day extension cost the same 1900baht? Thanks
lopburi3 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 You will not normally obtain 7 days without proof of onward travel (it is actually an unapproved request for extension of stay which expires in 7 days). I would request a non immigrant O single entry to prepare for retirement extension of stay - that would give you 90 days now and while in Europe you can obtain another and extend here or obtain O-A in Europe.

I didn't think I would be allowed to convert my 15day permission to an O visa. Can they do that in the immigration office in Changwattana? I thought they would want all the thai bank info etc - which I can not do till I go back to EU and sort things out. I was considering 3 visa runs with 15 day permission each time would do me -- if they will do that on my passport which has 3 back-top-back tourist visas. What do you think?
lopburi3 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I was thinking one visit to a Consulate outside of Thailand for the visa.
