Thanks for that info on the website, I went to the website, found the distributors number, she was very helpful, A Thai lady called Annie her mobile is : she told me she sells it to bars and restaurants mainly, but she delivered a case to my house today and charged me 50 baht a bottle x 24 = 1200 baht, tins always seem to have that tinny and gassy taste to me and of course a lot more expensive than the Thai cider, I am personally from Somerset the heart of cider country and it was quite a surprise to me how good it is, theirs no chemicals or additives in it , guess what i woke up without an hangover blink.gif Thats a 1st considering its 5.5 alcohol content, blink.gif

Only 5.5%, that reminds me of warm dishwater (American beer), How about some real cloudy stuff at 8%+.:whistling:

PS what size are the bottles.

Well originally the brewery had it at 8% and i can tell you now the bar owners would be none too pleased at that strength, people would be off there heads after 1, with the lads fighting and the girls clawing there eyes out, In fact the bar owners are saying they have to tell there girls not to drink too much of it as they were too drunk before there shift finished and when you consider most of the other ciders are about 4.7% and dont forget this product has only been on the market for 2 weeks and is growing unbelievably fast, looking at your logo you are probably a cider sales person, good luck to your product, im sure its very nice.

No, only drink it, good luck to who ever took the gamble on it as an enterprise in Thailand.

Actually you are right the bar owners do not want anything to strong, the route to market with the stronger stuff would be the supermarkets, specialist shops and direct marketing.

  • 2 weeks later...

As an avid cider drinker I am always happy to see new products come on the market here.

I thought I would ask my local to carry it until I tried it as I would hardly call it cider. An interesting taste but not cider.

My local bar owner also had reservations about the shelf life of the bottles. If as 'Darksidedonk' says it has no additives at all then that life would be about 2 weeks. The one I drank didn't give a use by date and the manufacturing date was early December which puts it out of date already.

From 'Darksidedonk's' comments it suggests to me that he/she has a vested interest in TNC.

Imported ciders have a shelf life of around 10 months by the time they get delivered to the bars.

As to the cheapness of the 'cider' my favourite 'Natch' is 500ml and costs me 100 baht/can when I buy a case privately. If a comparison is made to the 300ml bottles at 50 baht/bottle (privately) then the true cost for TNC for the same amount is just over 83 baht. I think for an extra16-17 baht I will stick with a real cider.

Cider does not have a 'tinny' taste (I've never heard someone from Somerset refer to it that way) as it suggests everything that comes in aluminium including draft beers has a 'tinny' taste. Aluminium containers are used because they don't leach into the product.

mm funny, thats my wifes The sole distributor for south east Thailand, as far as i know she hasn't employed anyone else that are computer literate, she would have told me if DARKSIDEDONK was an employee, looks like you have have a vested interest in natch yourself business or friend wise, as you are a newbie member just signed up this morning and gone straight to the cider comments that wasn't even on the 1st page, why would you do that ?.

I think its a good reply by yourself as it looks like you don't like competition are you worried about competition, With TNC cider already in more than 60 establishments in such a short time in the Pattaya area alone and reordering on a regular basis and it tells me its a winner, good luck with your product, i think there's more than 1 beer on the market doing well, so why not cider ?? its a growth market cider in the UK, so why not give the consumer the choice in Thailand.

Let the consumer decide whether they want it or not, Why would you not call it a cider ??? its made with apples ??? and 5.5 alcohol so if you check a dictionary out you will see that an alcoholic drink with apples in is cider. I also note that you have gone to great lengths to have the government stickers translated sounds unless you can actually read Thai yourself, well i have better things to do

the government doesn't require us to give a use by date, only a manufacturing date. the shelf life will be about 6 months if stored at 20 to 30 degrees. so far, we have no indication it will be sitting around for anything like that amount of time.

import ciders have a long time in storage, shipping, more storage, customs, more storage, distribution, etc. ours is out of the tank and into the gullet in about 2-4 weeks usually.

as to you not liking the taste, each to their own, i don't like Chang but plenty do.

i agree with galowgala, he sounds like a spoiler for Natch to me

personally i always drink cider in preference to beer when i can

if i am faced with choices of ciders Natch is at the bottom of my list

there are better alternatives for my palate including TNC

oh and no i do not work for any cider company nor i am friends with anyone who does....

No worries Steve when we get around to acquiring it will be stored in the fridge at 2-6C and can guarantee it will barely last five minutes!

Looking forward to tasting when I get back to Samui....

I dont know how mr natch rep works that 1 out, when the average selling price in a bar for TNC is 80 baht and the average selling price in a bar for natch is is 150 baht, the lowest i have seen TNC in a bar is 60 baht
