2011-01-17 08:11:31 GMT+7 (ICT)

AMMAN, JORDAN (BNO NEWS) -- Jordanian opposition political parties and professional associations demonstrated in front of the parliament on Sunday afternoon to protest government actions and the difficult economic situation, the Ammo News agency reported.

Protesters called on Prime Minister Samir Rifai's government to resign and criticized the parliament for granting the government a record 111 vote-of-confidence out of a total 119 votes last December.

Crowds also gathered on Saturday afternoon in front of the Tunisian Embassy in Amman to support the Tunisian people. During the gathering, protesters shouted lines against the Jordanian government and parliament.

Throughout the country, there were mass demonstrations on Friday, in what was called "Jordan's Day of Rage," to protest against price hikes, excessive taxation, unemployment, and difficult economic conditions in Jordan, Ammo News reported.
