Korat To Loei

Featured Replies

I will be driving from Korat to Loei and looking at the map there are two routes that can be taken, one using the 2 motorway to Khon Kaen or take the 205 then onto the 201 through Chaiyaphum. has anyone any experience of either of these routes ? Thanks for any input.

We have driven to Loei twice via the 2/12/201 route -- but we were headed for Chiang Mai. I found the roads pretty good -- and enjoyed that route.

If yours is a round trip I would suggest that route up --- then return via the 203 (out of Loei) --21/205 -- a little longer --but should be interesting.

Either one has its benefits, But I prefer Chaiyaphum. Loei is a pleasant place for a few days.

The 2 is ok but don't drive over the limit. They have speed check hidden in the middle of nowhere, then they radio their colleagues who stop you a couple of km later. Last time we took it (November), we were stopped 3 times between Korat and Udon.
