Hi Guys,

Need some pointers, Well i have this domain name bought last year, and i am surprise that for the past couple of weeks i have been getting alot of traffic and hits from it, I search on googled about my domain name and i notice that i bought a domain which was sold like 5 years ago in an auction for $500 USD, i also get to know the previous owner of the site did not renew or forget to renew up until i bought it last year when it expired.

Need some suggestion and review on the traffic what should i do with this website. I actually build a advertising forum on the domain but did not log in myself for the past couple of month. and now i notice that i got about 9000+ members and thousands of post on it.

Question is where do i get most of this traffic from ?

ill attach the traffic info here for you to tell me

You left out the most important reports -

Connect to site from: Direct, Search Engine, Links.

Also the Search Keyphrases (Top 10) report.

Those reports are at the bottom of your AwStats report.

you should use google to have the traffic analyzed, PM me if you need help on that.

seems you got a great way to get some $$$ without knowing it ;)

As for money, forums are not the most effective money makers, but it can make something.

Considering your website is growing nicely without any of your own effort, you might consider putting some effort into growing the traffic.

When you do decide to monetize the website, that depends a lot on the website topic. If it's product related you could do affiliate links or Google Adsense ads. If it's very general then affiliate links may be less effective leaving you with only contextual ads (Adsense). You could take inspiration from TV for monetization ideas or ad placement ideas.

Note the 'Links from the external page" websites. If those websites don't actually have a link to your website, then they're actually referrer spam. They just want you to visit their site, so they spam their site into your traffic logs. But if those websites actually have a link to your site then you're in luck.

Note the 'Direct Address' traffic. Either lots of people are typing in your domain directly and using your website, or this is further spam/robots. If you want an analytics package that filters out spam, try Google Analytics which is free.

You say that you have thousands of members and threads on your forum. Are they legitimate or spam? If the threads are legitimate conversation then install Google Analytics for more accurate tracking.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, Those members who sign up is spamming my forum with advertising promoting their products, which is based on the forum specification, but i see that most of them are either promoting viagra and some weired kind of stuff.

Are this members registration are real users or using fake generated users to register on th site ?

I have not install Google Adsene yet on the site but will these effect and give problem to my adsene , if my site are mostly enter by spammers ?

If they're promoting viagra and other similar spam, then it's a robot (computer program) doing the spamming.

If you have no legitimate threads/posts then you won't make money from it since you need real visitors to click on your ads to make money.

Another section worth noting is the 'Pages - URL' section. If you have any legitimate activity then the popular pages will be listed there.

Looks to be all spam/robots from what I see . . . I would guess very little 'real' traffic.

Agree. And some of those supposed "inbound links" come from bad territory. One bot attracting another bot.

What's the Alexa ranking and PR at?

Is the site actually indexed ?

With so many bad territory "links" any legitimate use you put the site to might result in having to seek a review by the search engines.

Without GA you can't do much analysis but think the site is probably worth what you paid for it and not much more.
