Hi there, Can anyone tell me what bus services are available from Pattaya to Vientiane or Luang Prabang. I hope to spend 3 days there with my girl friend. I checked flight prices with Lao Airlines but it was expensive.

My wife heads up to Issan fairly often. She took a bus from here, but said it was quite slow. She now goes to Bangkok, then gets a VIP bus from there. Many more options if you head to Bangkok first. Those VIP buses are pretty nice!

Fly to Udon Thani and take the bus to Vientiane (80 baht for the bus I think)

You will need a visa to board the bus, no time at the border to buy a Lao visa.
