Military Troops Trained to Operate Combat Drones on Myanmar Border
Pictures courtesy of SiamRath. The Naresuan Force has completed training its fifth class of soldiers as combat drone operators, part of efforts to bolster security along Thailand’s frontier with Myanmar. On 16 August, Colonel Natthakorn Rueantip, commander of the Ratchamanu Special Task Force, oversaw the latest training programme in Mae Sot district, Tak province. The course, officially titled Unmanned Aerial System – Combat Drone Operator (UAS), prepares troops to use unmanned aircraft equipped for tactical bombing missions. The initiative is designed to strengthen the 4th Infantry Division and the Naresuan Force in their role protecting Thailand’s sovereignty and national interests amid rapidly evolving border threats. “Our soldiers do not fight because they hate the enemy in front of them,” Col Natthakorn said during the ceremony. “They fight because they love and cherish what is behind them, our land and the Thai people.” The deployment of trained drone operators marks a significant step in modernising Thailand’s border security strategy as tensions persist along the frontier with Myanmar.
