January 24, 201115 yr Hello read about import duties on the forum but cant find an answer to my case. i spend around 1 month in thailand and 2 month in uk and so on all year aaround . no visa just 30 days stamp . ( quiet a few ) i want to bring my second hand paragliding equipment ( wing harness reserve helmet bought in UK ) next time with me ( 18 kilos all good) and leave it there with my thai girlfriend ( got a kid with her and ) i dont even know if i am meant to declare my equipment on entry in thailand or get a declaration by uk customs upon leaving uk . cause i dont plan to bring it back to uk this time it seems a bit tricky . will i get charged import duty ? or am i just being silly and i can bring it in and out at my convenience without the fear of being taxed ? any help appreciated . thanks
January 25, 201115 yr Most people would just bring it in without any problems. Officially you are importing it and should pay taxes over it.
January 25, 201115 yr Don't know about paragliding equipment. If you import a used bike you have to pay around 150% of what the custom officer think it's worth.
January 25, 201115 yr Author thanks for the answer. well ... i got a large cargo bag of ebay to carry it instead of my glider bag that screams " PARAGLIDER INSIDE" and i ll arm myself with my uk receipt for my equipment and pray for the best. ... i got to say i never got stopped at the airport before but i usualy travel light.
