Detention Sought for 2 Khon Kaen Red-shirt Suspects

Investigators have sought a remand of two more red-shirt elements in Khon Kaen for their roles in last year's roadblock to prevent Nong Khai riot police from joining the crackdown on protests in Bangkok.

Two red-shirt elements, identified as Chawi Khemthong and Nareubes Papakhang, were escorted by investigators of the Department of Special Investigation, or DSI, to Khon Kaen Provincial Court to seek permission for their detention between January 27 and February 7.

The two were charged with four counts of allegedly causing chaos in the country.

DSI investigators said the suspects took part in the roadblock with some other 500 red-shirt protesters on April 25 last year in Nong Khai to bar riot police from joining security operations in Bangkok.

The suspects denied the charges.

Investigators expressed no opposition against bail given their cooperation during the investigation process.

The two are also village heads whose whereabouts are clearly known.

Let's stick to the topic. The topic isn't "All things Red", by the way.

Bucholz - That and having posts made in reply to a question to actually address the question asked rather than go off on a tangent. That, too, would alsobe helpful for the forum.

I hope there aren't too many more of these types out there. Fortunately most of them seem amateurish. One ex-soldier tells me that most of the equipment the police recovered is "useless" and incapable of being used. Wonder if any other ex-military can confirm that?

To be able to tell if equipment is 'usable' or not you need more than just pictures. You need 'hands on' to investigate. If someone tells you 'I saw it, it's useless' you probably do good to err on the side of extreme caution and keep your distance before touching any of the stuff.

You probably wouldn't use a "water gun" to destroy the bombs circuits, either, would you (see BP)? Although it might've been one of these: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39234213/ns/technology_and_science-science/

Anyway, his specific criticisms weren't that the stuff wasn't real, just that they wouldn't have been able to do anything with what the police found, because the ammunition didn't go with the launchers etc. Well, it got more specific than that, but it's hard to tell from looking at pictures anyway, I suppose. Anyway, I don't know anything about this stuff and it's irrelevant now anyway.

If there is a more appropriate thread for posting additional ongoing Red Shirts arrests, I'd appreciate direction as to which one it is.

Yeah - this isn't 'All things Red' - it is 'Red Apologists claim Red never did anything wrong and and will not listen to reason or logic'.
