Dozens of homes searched in connection with 'Anonymous' web attacks

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Thursday executed more than 40 search warrants throughout the United States as part of an ongoing investigation into cyber attacks by a group calling themselves 'Anonymous.'

The FBI did not immediately say if any suspects were arrested during the searches but the coordinated law enforcement actions come on the same day when British police arrested five young men in relation to the 'Anonymous' web attacks.

American and British police and police in other nations have been investigating the 'Anonymous' DDoS attacks since they began last year in support of whistle-blowing organization WikiLeaks. Companies such as MasterCard and Visa were among the victims, but 'Anonymous' has recently also launched DDoS attacks for other causes.
